Get Connected!

It's been a little while since I've posted about some of my favorite things!

As many of you know, I'm a bit of a computer geek. Okay, more like computer obsessed. It's definitely something that drives Lincoln crazy and I'm working on it...



I spend a lot of my time (like this) at my desk, online blogging and surfing and, I like to think that I'm on the forefront of this crazy social media craze. It's the first thing I do when I wake up, and it's the last thing I do before I go to sleep.

The internet provides so many opportunities to interact with new people who share your common interests so here is a brief overview of three social media platforms that I am absolutely in love with!

Magic, Nostalgia, and Escapism


The only picture I have of me and my mom's solo Disney trip.

I have been thinking lately about what draws people to Disney parks, what keeps them coming back at all ages. I realized it is because of Disney’s deep nostalgic roots, the familiarity of the parks and the escapes they provide. Magic Kingdom is nostalgic in that it is a representation of a place that is static, old fashioned, and frequented by those who long for the peaceful easiness of childhood. Walt Disney World provides escapes from day-to-day lives but both are unable to completely keep the complexities of society out of their worlds.

Earning My Ears

When you go through training with Disney, you place a red tag that says  "Earning My Ears" underneath your nametag. This red tag signifies to everyone who works with or visits Disney that you don't know anything.

Employees refer to you as "red tags", guests try to take advantage of you, it's a four day process of long days and lots of frustration. Until, that is, you get to take it off.
